US 3/ – Einstein Bros. offers free bagels through Creative Alliance Facebook campaign


 


MILAN –Einstein Bros. Bagels, a US bagel and coffee chain, is offering a free bagel and a shmear of cream cheese to customers this week – “no purchase necessary.” The deal from the Lakewood, Colo.-based company began yesterday as a Facebook campaign.



Anyone who “friends” Einstein Bros. Bagels is getting a treat.


Starting today, fans of the Einstein Bros.’ Facebook page (www.facebook.com/einsteinbros) receive a digital coupon for a free bagel and shmear of cream cheese in a campaign created and managed by Louisville-base Creative Alliance Inc.


The online campaign includes a Facebook home page roadblock as well as targeted sidebar ads, the first of its kind for the brand, according to a news release.


The brand’s characters and inventive founders, “Melvin and Elmo,” will be an integral part of the communications strategy, according to the release.


Coupons are good while supplies last and are valid at participating locations.


“We want to thank all our Facebook fans for their support with a tasty, fresh bagel and are planning on giving away hundreds of thousands of free bagels as we build our presence on Facebook,” said James O’Reilly, chief concept officer for parent company, Lakewood, Colo.-based Einstein Noah Restaurant Group Inc.


Einstein Noah Restaurant Group (NASDAQ: BAGL) operates and licenses locations primarily under the Einstein Bros. and Noah’s New York Bagels brands and primarily franchises locations under the Manhattan Bagel brand.


The company’s has about 600 restaurants in 36 states, including a downtown store at 320 W. Jefferson St. in Louisville.


Creative Alliance Inc. is a Louisville-based advertising and public relations agency. It ranked as the area’s largest advertising agency on Business First’s Sept. 25 list, which was ranked by 2008 gross income. The firm reported $21.37 million in gross income and $42.97 million in media billings for 2008.
